Update on Karak Norn (14 April 2009)
Hail Faithful Website Followers!
It's been about a week now since we moved over to Karak Norn. I have to say, I think it's going very well. I've actually started having fun again playing the game and I think that's a feeling shared by most. We're already at Guild Rank 7 and have over 50 members, most of whom have followed us over from Burlok. All in all it's been a successful move.
A few things that I'd like you to consider...
The Guild will continue to be run with a mature and sensible attitude. Just because we're not on an RP server anymore, doesn't mean we're going to sacrifice the quality of members and the social environment.
Despite this, we need to be slightly more tolerant of what some might consider 'Silly Names'. I assure you that we will never recruit anyone called BrightWizardLOLzz, but don't expect everyone to have an immersive name, it's just not going to happen and the sooner everyone accepts this, the better.
Also, we've got the rare opportunity to travel from 1 to 40 as a complete Guild. That just doesn't normally happen. We have the chance to level together, get to know each other properly, learn each others play styles.
So I say, let's actually do that! We have Tier 2 groups forming every single night, but sadly it seems the same people join them and the same people don't bother. I would love to get to know each and every one of you on the battlefield, not just in /g. Whilst we will never force anyone to group if they don't want to - it would be nice.
I think we're already making an impression on this server. We've had Fates Warbands running most evenings, and had Suomy stomping his authority with the ignorant masses :D I'm very happy with the move, and I hope you all share this feeling with me.
Here's to a great run to Altdorf!
Moved to Karak Norn (08 April 2009)
Yesterday the decision was made to recreate Fates Encompassed on the Karak Norn server.
Burlok has all but died and we have already lost members due to the inactivity on the server. It was for the good of the Guild that we move to a more active environment.
I do hope that all of you will come and join us on the new server, though I appreciate that some of you may not want to start again from level 1.
The Guild is created on there, so please make a character and whisper one of the members for an invite.
Guild Alliance (31 March 2009)
Hail Guild,
Last night we left the Warped Alliance.
We were approached by Hagak, GM of "Heart of Darkness". As two of the more active guilds in the server it made sense that we should ally together. We were left with two choices: invite Heart of Darkness into the Warped Alliance or to start a new.
The only way to remove a guild from an alliance is for multiple guild leaders to vote on it. Most of the guild leaders aren't around anymore. We were basically stuck with alot of inactive guilds that we couldn't shift.
We have formed a new alliance - Malil's Legion - with Heart of Darkness.
For now just the 2 guilds are here, but once we settle in and get to know each other a bit more we plan to invite other more active guilds to join us.
Policy Change (16 February 2009)
Hail Guild!
Liontu and I have been discussing the 30 day inactivity rule and have decided to tweak it to better suit the needs of the Guild.
Prior to this change, any member who hadn't logged in within a 30 day time period would be booted from the Guild. This caused the following two very distinct problems:
Accurate Roster. If a player hasn't logged on for three weeks, it's a fair assumption that they aren't going to be available. We need to know at a glance how many members we can expect to be online.
Real Life Commitments. Sometimes things just come up in real life, and we don't have time to let our Guild know we'll be inactive. Real life should always take priority over the game.
So we need to make the inactive period shorter for accuracy, but we also need to make the inactive period longer so that people can take a break when they feel like it.
Solution: I've split the Roster page into three sections. The Main table now shows members who have played in the last two weeks. This makes it a much more accurate representation.
In addition, I've put the removal of inactive Members on hold. If someone has had other commitments and comes back to WAR, I want them to be welcomed by our Guild, not find themselves alone and Guildless.
Initiates will still be removed from the Guild if they're inactive.
Ventrilo Server Online! (26 January 2009)
Hail Guild!
As you know, we've been taking opinions on which voice comm server you'd like to use within the Guild. Some of you had a preference for TeamSpeak while some prefered Ventrilo. The majority of votes went to Either.
The most convincing argument that came from the discussion was from Raagnarock who said that Ventrilo is the program most Guilds use on Burlok. When Fates starts to become full time active in Tier 4, we're going to have to be able to join other Guilds on comms and indeed we'll play host to other Guilds on ours. So it makes sense for us all to use Ventrilo for this very important reason.

Hopefully see you all there soon :)
